7 Charged In Connection To Lower Burrell Police Officer’s Shooting Death

Seven people are facing charges in connection to the shooting death of Lower Burrell police officer Derek Kotecki. Kotecki was killed after he was ambushed by 33-year-old Charles Post, a fugitive, in the parking lot of the Dairy Queen in the 300-block of Greensburg Road back in October.

The death of Lower Burrell Police Officer Derek Kotecki has left a void in the community. He was shot and killed while trying to arrest 33-year-old Charlie Post outside the Dairy Queen on Greensburg Road in Lower Burrell on Wednesday.

Westmoreland Co. DA: Officers Knew Post Was A Threat

The investigation continues today after a veteran police officer was shot and killed Wednesday evening outside of a restaurant in Lower Burrell. The fallen police officer has been identified as Officer Derek Kotecki, a K-9 officer with the Lower Burrell Police Department in Westmoreland County.
