Pittsburgh has long been known for its work in major motion pictures, and television shows. Take its famous turn in the cult classic Night of the Living Dead, shot in 1968, in and around Monroeville Mall. Most recently, however, Hollywood has been taking notice of Pittsburgh for its affordability, breathtaking architecture, and affable residents. Since 1919, nearly 150 movies have been filmed in the Steel City, with 35 occurring in the last five years. This list includes the most memorable, some of which are critically-acclaimed, projects from the last decade.
Fresh off his big win at the Golden Globes, Michael Keaton received another big honor this morning when the Academy Award nominations were announced.
Filming on another big budget movie began Monday in the Pittsburgh area. Academy Award-nominated Bennett Miller of “Moneyball” and “Capote” fame is directing the all-star cast.
