Discount supermarket wars are heating up in the Pittsburgh area. On Sunday, the Giant Eagle chain opens its first value-priced grocery, called “Good Cents,” on McKnight Road in the North Hills.
City developers in East Liberty and the Hill District are moving forward with two big projects, all thanks to a generous federal grant.
There aren’t many people who look forward to going to the grocery store. However, hundreds were willing to wait in line as a new store opened its doors in the North Hills on Thursday.
It’s called Valu King – the newest discount grocery store to enter the Pittsburgh market. Owned by Giant Eagle, Valu King will make its Pittsburgh debut in the North Hills along McKnight Road at the site once occupied by Roomful Express.
