More than 40 quarter horses were rescued from a farm in Canonsburg. The animals were abandoned. The horses are suffering from worms. Some of them have eye problems and others have ear and hoof problems.
Nearly a dozen horses were removed from a local farm. The horses were living in a field behind a home in Saltsburg. Humane agents say they were severely underweight and had nothing but grass to eat.
Several horses were rescued from a Butler County barn Tuesday night. Representatives from Equine Angels Rescue say the horses were not cared for or fed properly.
State police say they are investigating a case of animal cruelty that left one horse dead and another one injured in Indiana County.
