PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) — Cory Giger of The Altoona Mirror reports right-handed pitcher Gerrit Cole, the top prospect in the Pirates organization and No. 12 overall in MLB, according to Baseball America, has been promoted from the Double-A Altoona Curve to the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians.

Pirates Recall Triple-A Infielder
PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) — Jeff Clement will get his first taste of big-league baseball in over two years, as the Pirates recalled the Indianapolis infielder from their Triple-A affiliate Friday afternoon. To compensate, the team optioned Yamaico Navarro back to the Indians.

PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) — Yesterday the Tribune-Review’s Dejan Kovacevic reported, according to an internal source, that Pirates right-handed pitcher Kevin Correia privately volunteered to pick up the team’s tired pitching staff after a 19-inning win in St. Louis. The team has confirmed Correia will indeed make a spot start, opposing Edinson Volquez, in tonight’s game at San Diego, the start of a three-game set against the Padres.
