As we head into the final weekend of 2012, we would like to pause to honor a few major milestones that happened this year at KDKA-TV.
Winter has come to Pittsburgh. Cold temperatures, gusty winds and even some snow – it has all arrived just as the holiday weekend gets underway.
A winter storm is moving across the Midwest, packing high winds and snow, and it continues to close in on the Pittsburgh area.
More than 1,000 people took to the Ohio River to raise money for the Special Olympics Sunday.
The so-called Superstorm Sandy is packing quite a punch, and the effects are being felt locally as rain continues to fall across the region and gusty winds whip through.
Temperatures are climbing into the 90s again today, which has prompted a Heat Advisory to be issued for the area.
It was another unsettled day as some severe weather moved across the area Sunday. While the day wasn’t a complete washout, thunderstorm warnings were issued for several counties to the north of Pittsburgh.
The weather was cool and calm Sunday evening, but that is all expected to change overnight as snow is set to return to the region.
Snow flurries were flying off and on across the Pittsburgh area Sunday, and at times, it made it difficult for drivers to see.
What Jon Burnett did on his summer vacation ended up being a serious “pain in the neck.” A congenital condition in Burnett’s neck called “Cervical Stenosis” was traumatized in a water tubing accident on an East Tennessee lake.
Snow moved in Friday afternoon, which has prompted the National Weather Service to issues Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories for the entire viewing area.
Much of the area got its first taste of snow overnight and it is not expected to stop until later this week.
While spring brought an almost endless amount of rain, Mother Nature is about to turn up the heat this week.
While the day started off with some sunshine, there a chance today that the Pittsburgh area could see more showers and thunderstorms into the evening hours.
After several days of sunshine, some severe weather is moving across the area today bringing with it the possibility for heavy rain, high winds and lightning.
