Many times a stat sheet doesn’t tell the whole story, but it did tonight as Dayton (17-10, 7-6) defeated Duquesne (15-12, 6-7) 74-62 in a must-win game for both teams, as they stood tied in eighth place in the Atlantic 10.
Duquesne With Solid 80-69 Win Over UMass
When the top two scoring teams in the Atlantic 10 face off, one would anticipate a fast-paced game. That’s exactly what went down in last night’s game, except Duquesne (12-7, 3-2) was able to effectively contain Massachusetts (14-5, 3-2), the top scoring team in the A-10, to eight points below their average while the Dukes scored above their average for the 80-69 win.

In last night’s A-10 matchup, Duquesne (10-6, 1-1) made sure it wasn’t another down to the wire game as they defeated St. Bonaventure (8-6, 1-1), 66-50, after a scrappy, low scoring first half.

The Duquesne Dukes (9-5) made sure to bring in the New Year the way any team would have it, crushing a Houston Baptist (5-8) 118-72, a team that has yet to win on the road.
