The recent storms that moved through the area this week are having an impact on the rivers around Pittsburgh.
Officials with the Pittsburgh Parking Authority say part of the Mon Wharf parking lot will be reopened to commuters on Monday.
Commuters have had to get used to not being able to park in the Mon Wharf recently. On Monday, it was announced that it won’t be open for the rest of the week.
High waters covered the Mon Wharf and flowed onto the busy “bathtub” section of the parkway in downtown Pittsburgh.
PennDOT closed the 10th Street Bypass Sunday night due to flooding. The road was reopened Tuesday morning after the river had receded.
Flooding is continuing to have an impact on the morning commute in downtown Pittsburgh. Rain and snow over the weekend caused the rivers to swell and overflow their banks.
Soaking rains turned to snow early Sunday and concerns over rising waters continue to grow across the area. Crews were bracing for more flooding Sunday night, while local residents were preparing for a longer commute to work Monday morning.
The month of March is living up to its billing as one of those peak flooding months and that means the National Weather Service is working overtime.
The Mon Wharf remains closed today due to flooding concerns. The Pittsburgh Parking Authority said heavy debris from flooding has been removed, but freezing temperatures have hampered efforts to remove the mud.
