Pitt football players have had big wins during Head Coach Paul Chryst’s tenure, but it’s been following those up that has been a challenge as the Panthers host 5-2 Georgia Tech Saturday at 3:30 p.m. on 93.7 the Fan.
Pitt quarterback Chad Voytik joined Bob Pompeani Saturday after the Panthers 21-16 win over Virginia Tech.
According to reports, Virginia Tech will be without their key defensive end Luther Maddy for their Thursday night matchup with the Pitt Panthers.
Despite a couple of average games, Pitt tailback James Conner is still 5th in division 1 rushing yardage and the sophomore said today he will play some at defensive end Thursday night against Virginia Tech. Conner and head coach Paul Chryst have said since training camp that Conner would get a look there, however he has only played offense to this point in the season.
The Pitt football program has announced their 2015-2016 non-conference dates and ACC opponents that will appear on next years schedule.
After getting off to a hot start this season and then dropping consecutive games to Iowa and Akron, the Pitt football program was looking for some good news, and that good news came through today.

Conner says he is only focused on being (4-0) after this weekend ends and this will be Pitt’s biggest challenge yet.
After 3 games the Pitt Panthers rank fourth in the nation in rushing offense. Sophomore James Conner is second in the nation with 544 yards and is just 5 yards from being the best in FBS. So head coach Paul Chryst must be pleased with that part of his of his team.
The Pitt Panthers continued preparations for Saturday’s game against the FIU Panthers in Miami. Redshirt sophomore Gabe Roberts and redshirt freshman Alex Officer divided time at center, and offensive coordinator Joe Rudolph suggested both will play in place Artie Rowell, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Boston College game. Rudolph said rotating centers is “a real possibility, and we wouldn’t be against it.”

Pitt head coach Paul Chryst said either sophomore Gabe Roberts or freshman Alex Officer will fill in for starter Artie Rowell, after a season-ending knee injury Friday. “We’ll practice them both,” Chryst said. “Gabe did some good things (in the game vs. Boston College). We’ll practice both of them this week.”
The Panthers impressive 30-20 road victory over ACC opponent Boston College netted not only a win, but also three ACC Weekly Player Awards.
