PITTSBURGH (AP) — Clint Barmes’ first career grand slam keyed a nine-run fourth inning and Neil Walker went 5 for 5 as the Pittsburgh Pirates rallied past the San Diego Padres 11-5 on Sunday.
The Pirates came up short against the Milwaukee Brewers, 6-4. Ross Ohlendorf pitched five innings and allowed four runs on five hits. Prince Fielder hit three home runs in one game for the first time in his career.

Pirates starter Ross Ohlendorf got his first win of the season, but it couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Pirates were looking to start their three-game series against the Florida Marlins off on the right foot Friday night; instead, they got pounded in a 13-4 rout at PNC Park.

The Beaver County Times and Baseball Prospectus writer joined Vinnie to discuss Friday’s marathon victory, and look back at the first week of the Pirates’ 2011 season.
As expected, Pirates starter Ross Ohlendorf was placed on the 15-day DL.
