A week of sub-freezing temperatures is taking a toll on pipes.
Police are investigating after a man fell from a high-rise building downtown Pittsburgh yesterday afternoon. It happened shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the Encore High-Rise at the corner of Fort Duquesne Boulevard and Seventh Avenue.
A man was found dead in Beaver County. The body was discovered at the corner of Sixth Street and Seventh Avenue behind a building in Beaver Falls.
Film crews have infiltrated downtown Pittsburgh. The shoots for the film “One Shot” will lead to several road closures and detours overnight.
A suspicious item found near the U.S. Steel Tower in downtown Pittsburgh belonged to a homeless person. Pittsburgh police shut down the ramp to the Veterans Bridge in addition to the Sixth and Seventh Avenue exits into downtown while the bomb squad investigated.
Verizon workers nationwide are on strike, including roughly 12,000 local employees. The walkout began over the weekend after negotiations failed. A large protest was held at 8 a.m. outside of Verizon’s downtown headquarters.
More than 12,000 local Verizon workers have joined other union workers in a nationwide strike against Verizon.
