It’s an active day for weather in the Pittsburgh area. Showers and thunderstorms have been moving through Wednesday morning.
With the threat of heavy rains comes the potential for flooding and the city is already preparing for the latest round of severe weather to hit the area.
An organized complex of storms is expected to affect the Pittsburgh area late today and into the overnight hours.
The National Weather Service was tracking a so-called derecho weather pattern in the Midwest on Tuesday that could spawn severe windstorms in major metropolitan areas with gusts as strong as 100 mph.
Severe thunderstorms rumbled through the Pittsburgh area Wednesday night, and weather forecasters say more of the storms are possible Thursday.
