The Phillips File
The bottom line is the Flyers own the Penguins right now. I said before this started that the Pens can’t win a series that goes seven games against the Flyers. And the odds of Pittsburgh winning four of the next five are very slim.
Excuse me for not waxing poetice for a Pirates return to glory, as I think there is a much better chance of me winning Mr. Universe this year.
After three games, Sidney Crosby looks good. I’m rooting for it to continue, as I have been accused of ‘hating’ on Sid & his return to the NHL. Who wants to be right about the possible end to anybody’s career, let alone a man who many regard as the games best.
If Sidney Crosby never suffers from post-concussion symptoms again, I will march down Grant Street naked, painted bright neon pink, being chased by a hungry pack of Doberman’s while playing Christmas Carols on a bag pipe as I stroke out and expire.
Let’s be real clear here, Mike Wallace will be catching passes in Pittsburgh next fall. There is no way the Steelers let him go to New England or any other team in the NFL.
It was a dark and gloomy Thursday in Pittsburgh. Quite appropriate for the setting of what many see as the final meeting between old rivals Pitt and West Virginia in basketball’s version of the Backyard Brawl.
Can you hear that laughter? It’s coming from Morgantown. That’s the sound of a giddy, Mountaineer nation having a good chuckle at the expense of its rival and soon to be former conference it was affiliated with for so long.
I guess Joe Paterno knew best as to how his life would end if he stopped coaching.
Three game losing streaks are not very common when it comes to discussing Pitt basketball the past decade. Since Jamie Dixon took over the program nine years ago, it has only happened three times.
The magic of Tim Tebow looks to have run out and given the Steelers past success in the Mile-High city during playoff time, things are looking good for a Divisional playoff rematch with either New England or Baltimore.
When it comes to drama, the Pitt football program takes the cake.
Was last night enough to silence critics of Ben Roethlisberger and his hypochondriac ways?
Why are so many people making a big deal about Tiger Woods winning a golf tournament?
The Consol Energy Center was the backdrop for the 80th edition of Pittsburgh’s City game featuring Pitt and Duquesne. For me, it was the 1st one that I have witnessed live and in person.
For most of the night it looked like the Panthers were going to win what many see as the final Brawl for quite some time. But like so many games this year, the Panthers found a way to botch it.
