It was a big day for hikers, bicyclists and others who love outdoor recreation.
A rumbling freight train accents a moment many thought might never come. A one-mile stretch of Allegheny Passage, sandwiched between the tracks and Sandcastle Park, will soon be completed.
He wasn’t a household name in Pittsburgh, but he had a big impact on how we live. A memorial service was held Saturday to honor and celebrate the life of Mark Schneider; a man who many say dedicated his career to making Pittsburgh a better place.
You may not have heard of Mark Schneider, but you can see his imprint everywhere. The former head of the stadium authority, he was instrumental in the North Shore development of both PNC Park and Heinz Field as well as the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
With all of the excitement over at PNC Park these days, it’s hard to remember the battle royal over whether or not to build it. But one person never had any doubts.
