Best Cinco de Mayo Parties In Pittsburgh

Did you know that Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's Independence Day? On the contrary, the holiday commemorates the unprecedented victory of Mexico against Napoleon's undefeated French army at the Battle of Puebla. The humble Mexican army was half the size of Napoleon's with nowhere near the number of resources and weaponry. In present-day Pittsburgh terms, that would be equivalent to the Pirates winning the World Series. If you are in the mood to celebrate an underdog victory, discover local Latin American culture or just enjoy a Saturday night margarita, Pittsburgh is the place to be this Cinco de Mayo.

If dancing and sipping on unique drinks in an artsy, trendy atmosphere is what you have in mind though, be sure to stop into Bossa Nova.  The space is quite large and each section hosts a different look and feel to it--sit in the more intimate lounge area or hit the dance floor in the bar area. Bossa Nova hosts salsa nights every Thursday from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. with a live DJ, and can even be rented out for private events. Remember that this place is 21 and up and you'll want to dress to impress before heading downtown.
