By Carrie Moniot
As the wife of KDKA-TV movie critic, Drew Moniot (as seen on Pittsburgh Today Live’s “Drew’s Reviews”), I spend quite a bit of time in movie theaters. After many a trip to the concession stand, I decided to check out some of the bargains being offered by local theaters. These are a few deals I found around the area.
Carmike 10 Cinemas
At Carmike 10 Cinemas on Fort Couch Road I took advantage of Super Stimulus Tuesdays. Popcorn costs $1. You can get a drink for only $1 and candy for $2.50.
South Side Works Cinema
You can’t beat the price of a 32-ounce popcorn on Tuesdays at South Side Works Cinema. It’s free with a paid admission! You can upgrade that bag of popcorn to 85 ounces for just $1. On Mondays, you can shave $1 off candy and pop and all non-3D films cost $5.
AMC Loews Waterfront 22
Early birds can take advantage of every day ticket price savings at AMC Loews Waterfront 22 in West Homestead. Movies cost $5 Monday through Thursday before 6 p.m. and before noon Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Additional charges apply for IMAX and 3D.
Cinemark Robinson Township
At participating Cinemarks, every Monday is Seniors Day. I checked out the Cinemark on Settlers Ridge Drive in Robinson Township and learned that seniors 62 and over can see a movie all day Monday for $5. Sorry, but that offer is not valid for specially priced engagements.
Since I’m still too young for Seniors Day, I had to wait a day to take advantage of Discount Tuesdays at Cinemark in Robinson. A ticket purchased for Tuesday showings costs $5.25, as long as you’re not seeing a movie in 3D or XD.
