It’s often said the best nursery is the closest one to your house. One thing is for sure – if you want the best plants at a good price, go to a nursery or garden center. They have a better selection, and they take care of their plants year round. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette garden guru says any of the garden centers below can order what you want if they don’t carry it. He also says get to know the people who run the nursery so they know what you like. The families that run the nurseries below are the salt of the earth.

Hi, My son lives in Steubenville Oh, and is looking for Lily of the Valley plants to bring South to Alabama in a month to grow for his wedding in July . We have a greenhouse to help with the heat but we need mature plants. Can anyone let us know if you have any to buy right now? Thanks, Lisa Wiese

    • Sue

Lisa… Lily of the Valley plants like shade, not sure if they’ll tolerate the heat of the south. Good luck.

You might do better to purchase the bulbs online. Lily’s of the Valley do prefer shade and usually don’t flower into the hot summer months. There are some great instructions from this website on how to grow them indoors (even during the winter) Looks like you can purchase them from here as well.
      Good luck!

You might want to check your facts. You have the wrong address and phone number listed for Soergel’s. Not to mention, there are MANY more nurseries around than just the 5 you have listed. If this doesn’t sound like advertisement….

  • Puspa

I’ve been to the 5 listed but none of them can compare to Bedner’s Greenhouse in Cecil Township. Not only do they have the best hanging baskets but they also sell produce from their fields in the summer. Well worth the drive.

They dont have correct address listed for Soergels Its Brandt Scool Road Wexford Pa. 15090 724-935-1743
