Not seen in Pittsburgh since 1990, "Otello" is Shakespeare's literary and theatrical masterpiece of "Othello," developed for the opera by Giuseppe Verdi. An incredible, visceral drama, before the audience's eyes, Otello transforms from loving husband to cold-blooded killer. Putting his trust in the deceitful Lago, but believes his loving wife Desdemona has betrayed him, this four-act play was first performed for the public in 1887. As part of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's admission-free Music for the Spirit program, the PSO invites the public to join resident music director Manfred Honeck and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for a concert featuring the Music for the Spirit Chamber Choir under the direction of Robert Page and Christine Hestwood. The concerts will include some of the most well-known and well-loved works of the PSO's collection. Soprano soloist Sari Gruber and actor Don Marinelli will be in attendance as special guests.

The Jerusalem Quartet continues to be an admired, frequent visitor to major venues throughout North America. With a rising reputation stateside, the foursome has played in venues throughout Chicago, New York, Pennsylvania, California, Washington and Ohio. The Jerusalem Quartet records exclusively for Harmonia Mundi and the group's albums have been awarded with numerous accolades. The Pittsburgh performance will feature the quartet's enchanting rendition of Haydn's Quartet in G minor, five Schulhoff pieces and Schumann's Quartet in A major.
