What do you get when you combine comedy and food? Alton Brown Live. Known as the Iron Chef, Alton Brown’s show is an interesting mix of stand-up comedy and cooking. Brown will talk about cooking science and has been known in the past to make this show interactive by pulling audience members up on stage to give him a hand in some of the food experiments. Be prepared for a messy, experimental live cooking show with the fun element of stand-up comedy. Tickets start at just $32.25. Purchase a VIP ticket package to have a meet and greet with Brown backstage before the show.

See one of the most popular touring comics in the country right here in Pittsburgh. Jim Gaffigan’s quirky brand of humor is self-deprecating and intelligent. It’s also more family friendly than some other popular comics as Gaffigan focuses on topics like food and family. Known for his appearances on Conan O’Brien’s show, Gaffigan has also made a name for himself with his wildly popular Comedy Central special “Beyond the Pale.” Tickets start at $69.

Check out Frank Caliendo’s show at the Improv for a night of classic stand-up comedy that includes impressions, anecdotal stories and original characters. Caliendo is a nationally known comedian best known for his frequent television appearances and his dead-on impressions of famous actors. Keep in mind that the Improv is a 21-and-over venue. Head to the venue early to get a head start on the appetizer and dinner menu. Tickets are $35.

O’Reilly and Miller’s upcoming national “Bolder & Fresher” tour is making a stop in Pittsburgh and promises to be an intense blend of political commentary and political satire. These two performers sit at very different ends of the political and social spectrum. The resulting show that is billed as a lecture ends up being a seriously irreverent combination of comedy and commentary. Tickets start in the $90 range.
