Missing Teenager Rescued From Hole

A local teenager is sharing her story after being trapped in a hole.

"I could have been down there for days," Jynelle Thornton, 14, said.

She spent eight hours inside a hole in Sharpsburg near the Azcon Scrap Yard.

She says she went to the area with a friend last night, but when her friend left she decided to stay, calling it her favorite hangout.

While using her cell phone for light, she accidentally dropped it down a hole. She went in after it and got stuck. This was around 6:30 p.m.

When she wasn't home by 10 p.m., her parents called police and reported her missing.

Police called her friends and Jynellle was found around 2:30 a.m.

Rescue crews lowered ladders into the hole to get her out. Except for few bumps and bruises, Jynelle is fine.

KDKA's Brenda Waters asked her what lesson she learned from all of this, the teen said: "Don't go after a phone in a mysterious hole."
