Penn Hills Man Faces Charges In Roofing Scam

MOUNT PLEASANT TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - A man claiming to be a magistrate's relative is facing charges of allegedly scamming a Mount Pleasant Township couple on roof repairs.

Jason Pirl, of Penn Hills, is accused of offering to fix the couple's roof for $2,700. He allegedly said he would need $1,500 up front.

Pirl reportedly measured the victim's roof, but the victim's were suspicious and called the magistrate to confirm his identity.

The victim's were able to stop payment on the check as the suspect was at the bank trying to cash it.
