Sources: Seneca Valley Teacher Died From Shooting
LANCASTER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- No one has been arrested and there's still no motive, but sources say that investigators are making progress into the shooting death of a popular Butler County high school teacher.
Steven Russo, 48, a math teacher at Seneca Valley High School for more than 20 years, was found dead on the kitchen floor in his Lancaster Township home Wednesday.
State police went door-to-door in the neighborhood Thursday asking residents if they saw anything suspicious, especially since there was a break-in reported Tuesday morning.
He lived with his girlfriend, Heidi Smith, who was questioned by police.
A neighbor, Brooke Webster, works at the Log Cabin Inn down the road from his home. She said she served them at least once a week. She described Russo as friendly and social. She was shocked by his death.
One investigator was seen removing what appeared to be a wooden cabinet door from the home. Police also removed the crime scene tape from around the home.
