Thieves Cause Blast In Redstone Township

REDSTONE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Police say some thieves caused an explosion when they were stealing copper wire from a vacant house in Redstone Township.

It happened at a house on Integra Street belonging to Barbara Cardarelli on Saturday.

Police say the intruders broke into the house and were cutting wires looking for copper when they accidentally cut the gas line.

After noticing they cut the gas line, police believe the intruders then intentionally caused an explosion causing household items to scatter.

State police are now investigating this as arson.

Anyone with information should contact the Belle Vernon or Uniontown barracks.
