Hearing Postponed For Local Security Guard

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The security guard who admitted to making up a story about a driver running him down at a local mall was in court today.

Gregory Lattera kept quiet after his preliminary hearing on assault charges was postponed.

The former Eagle Scout was arrested after officials say he allegedly roughed up John Kaminski, falsely accusing the married father of trying to run the security guard down at the Ross Park Mall Toys 'R' Us on Black Friday.

Ross Township police were called in an attempt to assist Lattera and ended up using a Taser on Kaminski before taking him into custody.

However, the alleged incident, according to Ross Township police, was a lie

Lattera told the cops that he was cold, tired and frustrated after directing Black Friday traffic for more than six hours and he took his frustrations out on Kaminski.

The Kaminskis attended the hearing today but declined comment. Lattera did the same.

Lattera remains free on $20,000 bond. He is charged with making a false report to police, impersonating a public servant, assault, unlawful restraint and harassment.

His new preliminary hearing is set for next Wednesday.
