Pirates Re-Sign Donnie Veal

Pittsburgh (KDKA/AP) - The Pittsburgh Pirates have made another move this offseason with the re-signing of left-handed pitcher Donnie Veal.

Veal, who signed a minor league contract with the Bucs, will also be invited to the team's spring training camp.

Veal was non-tendered by the Pirates on December 2nd to make room on the 40-man roster, but at the time the team was hopeful of having him back.

Veal, who is recovering from elbow surgery that he had back in June, is not expected to be ready by the start of the season.

Veal joined the Pirates in 2009 and pitched in 19 games going 1-0 with a 7.16 ERA. In 2010, Veal was pitching for Triple-A Indianapolis and had a record of 3-2 with a 4.35 ERA before having surgery.
