Multiple Water Main Breaks Causing Problems

ROSS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Several major water main breaks have been causing problems in the North Hills this morning -- closing a busy highway, shutting down businesses and affecting school bus pickups.

The problem started early this morning when two large water main breaks shut down McKnight Road between Peebles and Siebert Roads in the North Hills

The closure also prompted businesses along McKnight Road to close -- including Ross Park Mall.

To make matters even worse, crews also responded to a third water main break along Perry Highway at Jackson Road.

The traffic impact also created issues for students waiting for the school bus this morning.

Officers were dispatched to alert parents and students that buses might not make it to pick up the children.

The North Hills School District notified students that buses would not be able to pick up students living in the Johanna/Teal Trace area and Waldorf Apartments.

As for McKnight Road, it is still not clear when the busy thoroughfare will reopen.
