Woman Dies After Kennedy Twp. Ambulance Crash

KENNEDY TOWNSHIP (KDKA/AP) - An accident involving an ambulance and another vehicle in Kennedy Township claimed the life of a woman being taken to the hospital.

According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the crash happened just after 4 p.m. Saturday on McKees Rocks Road.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office says Leslie Thompson, 63, collapsed in her home. She was on her way to Ohio Valley General Hospital.

A spokeswoman says she was transferred to another ambulance after the crash but died in the hospital emergency room just after 4:30 p.m., the Associated Press reports.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner said Thompson died from heart disease and not from the accident.

Police are still investigating to determine if charges will be filed in the crash.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office says four ambulance personnel were also injured.
