Stewart Announces Ineligibility Of 3 Players

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (KDKA/AP) - Coach Bill Stewart and the West Virginia Mountaineers will be without three players when they play North Carolina State in the Champs Sports Bowl.

Stewart announced the ineligibility of junior center Joe Madsen, senior defensive back Eain Smith and senior defensive lineman Josh Taylor.

Smith and Taylor have played in one game this season; Smith has one interception for a 38-yard return.

Stewart said the players did not meet NCAA eligibility requirements.

Big East co-champs West Virginia (9-3) will play ACC opponent North Carolina State (8-4) on Dec. 28 in Orlando, Fla., at the Champs Sports Bowl.
