Teenager Killed In New Kensington Fire

NEW KENSINGTON (KDKA) -- A teenager is dead and five others were hurt in a house fire in New Kensington.

The fire broke out at a home in the 800-block of 7th Street around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Four of the fire victims were brought to UPMC Mercy Hospital and their conditions range from serious to fair.

"There was very heavy fire throughout the entire house before the first fire unit was on scene," New Kensington Assistant Fire Chief Ed Saliba said. "There [were] multiple calls into the 911 center."

Fire investigators say six people were in the house when the fire broke out. One of them didn't make it out.

"His body was found near the front door," Saliba said.

According to the Post-Gazette, the victim was a 15-year-old freshman from Valley High School. He was visiting the sons of the owner of the house.

The coroner is waiting for dental records to confirm the victim's identity, but family members and friends identify the teenager as Khareem Hutchinson.

While some in the house jumped to safety, friends say the teenager who died was afraid of heights.

Also in the house was Amy Mazziotti, her teenage sons, Nino and Vinnie Mazziotti, Aaron Adams and another teenager visiting the home.
