Rivers Casino Wants To Add More Table Games

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Table games are so popular at both area casinos that the Rivers and Meadows have moved to increase the number of tables open to the public.

"Even though we have 86 tables, we don't have that many seats per table, so it doesn't to take a lot for people to be without a seat," Corey Plummer, vice president of gaming at the Rivers Casino, said.

He says that's why the Rivers has requested 19 additional tables.

Last month, the Meadows Casino added 10 more table games, bringing t heir total number to 72.

The popularity of table games roulette, blackjack and poker has been a money-maker for the casinos and the state.

The Rivers has plans to expand its poker room.

"When we opened the poker room, we had 24 tables," Plummer said. "We have been approved to expand that to 26 live tables. We'll be asking for an additional 4 tables to go live in there, taking the poker room to 30 tables."

If state regulators approve, Plummer says the Rivers will go on another hiring spree – adding another 100 dealer positions.

There will be a job fair Jan. 12 and another dealer school starts Jan. 19.
