Alleged Armstrong County Lurer Faces New Charges

KITTANNING (KDKA) -- A man accused of trying to lure three teenager girls in Armstrong County is facing new charges.

Matthew Evans, 36, of New Bethlehem, has a criminal history dating back to the 90's.

"I know that he was charged with some, I believe, open lewdness," Kittanning Police Chief Ed Cassesse said.

In addition to the Ford City charges, Evans is facing two new counts from Kittanning.

"The important thing was the girls were calm enough that they did get a description of him – did get a very good description of the vehicle, were able to pick him out of a photo lineup," Cassesse said.

On Oct. 19, a 17-year-old girl reported that Evans drove alongside her as she walked between St. Mary's Parish Hall on North Jefferson to Vine Street.

He offered her $100 to $300.

"If she would like to basically have sex with him, kiss him, see his private parts," Cassesse said.

Police say a day later he approached a 15-year-old at the corner of Orr Avenue and Montieth Street, trying to get her into his vehicle.

Evans remains in the Armstrong County Jail on $70,000 bond.
