Boyce Park Ski Lift Closed Until Inspection
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A ski lift malfunction at the Boyce Park ski slopes left about 100 people stranded over the weekend.
Some were stranded for more than an hour. They each had to be lowered to the ground using ropes.
The problem wasn't mechanical. Apparently, someone fell at the top of the lift, grabbed a chair, pulled it sideways and pulled the cable off its guide wheel.
Crews are repairing the lift, but state inspectors have to sign off on it.
They're hoping to do that as soon as Tuesday.
This is the second year in a row that Boyce Park has had trouble with its ski lift. Last year, it was shut down for two months.
