Duquesne Beats Saint Louis, 67-45

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) - T.J. McConnell and the Duquesne Dukes held off the Saint Louis Billikins 67-45 for their fifth straight win.

The win kept Duquesne (10-5, 2-0) undefeated in Atlantic 10 conference play and snapped the Dukes losing streak to the Billikens. The Dukes lost three of their last four games to the Billikens.

Duquesne finished the first half scoring 15 of the final 21 points, then started the second half with a 16-1 run giving them a 45-26 lead.

Saint Louis, which lost its sixth straight, was missing its two leading scorers from last season.

The Billikens did hold down the Dukes offense which was averaging 92.8 points per game on its home court. However, that didn't last as the Dukes got contributions from all but one of its players.

The Dukes were led by McConnell who finished with 18 points, one rebound, four assists and one steal. Damian Saunders and Sean Johnson were the other players for the Dukes that scored in double digits. Saunders also contributed with 10 total rebounds, four blocked shots and three steals.

Next up for Duquesne will be No. 19 Temple on Saturday.
