Insurers Profiting From Taxpayer Dollars Via Medicare 'Float'

Pittsburgh (Newsradio 1020 KDKA)  Private insurance plans associated with Medicare recipients, are banking millions by investing government funds that are sent in advance, but are not yet needed.  This is known as "playing the float."  Investment income totaled $376 million from advanced government payments in 2007 alone.

The AP's, Ricardo Alonso-Zaldivar, joined Rose and Paul on the KDKA Afternoon News to discuss these revelations and explain how it's taking place.
