Huggins, WVU Suspend Casey Mitchell

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (KDKA/AP) - After leading the West Virginia Mountaineers to a win over South Florida on Sunday, WVU indefinitely suspended senior guard Casey Mitchell for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

When asked about the suspension, coach Bob Huggins did not elaborate.

Mitchell is leading the Mountaineers in scoring and free throw and three point percentage this season.

This past Sunday against South Florida, Mitchell recorded his first career double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Mitchell's suspension came a day after forward Dan Jennings walked away from the bench in the second half of the USF game. Huggins called Jennings' exit "inexcusable."

This is the second time Mitchell has been suspended indefinitely by Huggins. The last time was in October for violating team rules, although Mitchell didn't miss any games.

WVU will take on No. 23 Louisville on the road Wednesday.
