Steelers Nation Begins Invasion Of Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, Texas (KDKA) - The heart of Steelers Nation is right here in Pittsburgh, but with the Super Bowl next week in Texas, a temporary hub for black and gold fans is being set up in Fort Worth.

The large Texas city is being invaded by Steelers faithful, and some of them are not even from Pittsburgh.

"They asked if we were from Pittsburgh, and I said, 'No Missouri,' and they were like, 'How in the world?'" said Todd Bolein, a citizen of Steelers Nation.

The team is going to be staying in Fort Worth, not Arlington or Dallas. And there's no guessing about where the team will be staying when you look at front of the Omni Hotel. A big Steelers logo has been stuck on the windows outside.

"Fort Worth is the 17th largest city in the country and by itself we're larger than five other cities that have hosted Super Bowls," said Kelly Campbell, of the Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau. "So you know what? We have a lot to offer."

One fun place to go is Sundance Square, which offers 35 blocks of everything Super Bowl. But, if you're looking for a little Lonestar ambiance, there's another direction to go.

"Fort Worth is known as the city of cowboys and culture; so, downtown, you can enjoy that, but you've got to go to the Stock Yards district," added Campbell.

The Stock Yards district is all kinds of fun. They've got restaurants and bars, cowboys, cowboy boots, cowboy hats, cows, and right now of course, plenty of Steelers fans.

"We're seeing [Steelers fans] already and Forth Worth is the fun place to be during Super Bowl," said Campbell.
