Pitt Receives 5 More Verbal Commitments

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - National Signing Day is two days away, but Todd Graham and the Pitt Panthers have received verbal commitments from multiple players.

One new additions is linebacker Devin Cook from Beaver Falls.

Cook is 6-feet-4-inches tall and weighs 230 pounds. He's a three-star recruit by Rivals.com and is ranked 38th in the state of Pennsylvania.

Pitt also added a relatively unknown recruit from Florida. Over the weekend, Pitt received a verbal commitment from Fort Meade, Fla. wide receiver Ronald Jones. Jones is 5-feet-8-inches tall, weighs 165 pounds and runs a 4.4 second 40.

Cornerback Jason Frimpong is 5-feet-11-inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. He's from Irving, Texas and decided to follow Graham from Tulsa to Pitt. Frimpong, a two-star recruit by Rivals.com, committed to Tulsa in mid-December, but changed his commitment after Graham went on a recruiting trip over the weekend.

Frimpong runs a 4.4 second 40 and played running back and wide receiver during his senior year. He ran for 298 yards and five touchdowns on 64 carries. He also had 33 receptions for 459 yards and two touchdowns.

Chris Peak, of PantherLair.com, is also reporting that Pitt has received commitments from teammates out of Orlando, Fla.  Outside linebacker LaQuentin Smith and safety Roderick Ryles will come to Pitt from Dr. Philips High School. Smith is 6-feet-one-inch tall and is a three-star recruit. He runs a 4.6 second 40.

Smith is a highly-touted recruit. He ranks 35th in the nation among safeties and is the 92nd best player to come out of the state of Florida according to Rivals.com
