Xavier Beats Duquesne 71-63 For First Place In A10

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) - After an 8-0 start in Atlantic 10 play, Duquesne's 71-63 loss to Xavier dropped them out of first place in the conference.

Despite 20 turnovers, Xavier was able to control the final 11 minutes of the game for the win. The win puts Xavier in sole possession of first place in the conference and gives them a chance for their fifth consecutive regular-season championship.

Xavier had two career-high games from Tu Holloway and Dante Jackson. Holloway scored 20 points and had seven rebounds. Jackson added 19 points.

The Dukes were led by B.J. Monteiro with 17 points and senior Bill Clark added a double-double. Clark scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. He also added three assists and three steals.

Duquesne (16-7, 8-2 Atlantic 10) fell to third in the conference. Temple and Richmond are tied for second at 9-2, while Xavier is 9-1.

The Dukes next game is Wednesday on the road at UMass.
