Hill District Man Charged In Weekend Homicide
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh police say they have made an arrest in a shooting last weekend that claimed the life of a 21-year-old man in the Hill District.
Police say Marcus Smith, 21, of the Hill District, is facing one count of criminal homicide along with other charges.
The victim, 21-year-old Dane Smith Jr., was found lying on Centre Avenue on Saturday afternoon with gunshot wounds to his left side and head.
He was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
According to police, the victim was wounded during a foot chase from the 2300-block of Reed Street to Centre Avenue. The suspect ran into a wooded area and got away.
The suspect is being held in the Allegheny County Jail.
