Possible Accidental Shooting Leaves 1 Dead

EAST CARNEGIE (KDKA) – Authorities continue to investigate after an apparent accidental shooting in East Carnegie left one man dead early Sunday.

According to police, the shooting happened in the 1500-block of Baldwick Road shortly after 2 a.m.

Police say 29-year-old Brian Natali was a front seat passenger in a vehicle being driven by his wife. They were reportedly heading down Baldwick Road when a shot rang out in the vehicle. That's when they pulled into a turnaround.

"A van pulled over right across the street from my driveway, and probably, I'd say, five to seven kids got out of the van and they were just screaming, yelling at each other," said Brad Wolbert, a neighbor.

Wolbert says he and other neighbors along the road were awakened by the screams after the shooting.

Authorities report that 27-year-old Joshua Porter was sitting behind Natali in the vehicle. Investigators say they believe that Porter had a gun that discharged.

The bullet went through the front passenger seat and struck Natali in the back, officials said.

Wolbert says police showed up a few minutes after everyone got out of the van.

"The cops showed up about five to 10 minutes after that. They started, you know, arrested a couple of them further down the street," said Wolbert. "They came down here where the van was with guns drawn and told everyone to get down and started to work on the one kid who was already the ground not moving."

Natali was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly before 3 a.m.

Passengers in the van were questioned and later released. So far, no charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
