Black Ice Blamed In Penn Hills Accident

PENN HILLS (KDKA) - A man was injured after his vehicle went off the road and hit a house in Penn Hills Tuesday morning.

According to police, the accident happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 4600-block of Verona Road.

The driver of a Ford Explorer lost control, went off the road and slammed into the porch of a home.

Emergency crews found the man unconscious inside the vehicle and had to work fast to free him because it began to leak gasoline.

He was taken to UPMC Presbyterian for treatment and his condition is unknown.

Investigators believe the accident was caused by black ice left over from Monday's heavy rains.

Motorists are being cautioned to watch out for black ice around the area during the morning commute.
