Man Knocked Unconscious By Falling Tree In Beaver Co.

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – A man was knocked unconscious when he was hit by a falling tree Tuesday morning.

According to officials, the incident happened at the Coraopolis Beagle Club on Bocktown Cork Road in Independence Township around 11 a.m.

"We were cutting, felling some trees because we make brush piles and we make piles for the cover for the rabbits and stuff like that," George Logue, an eyewitness, said.

Logue told KDKA-TV he yelled at Carl Steuer to get out of the way when the tree started to fall.

"It knocked him out," he said. "It was a scary moment for a while. And then he finally [came] to."

Logue says the tree was dead and probably about 8-inches thick and about 20-feet tall.

Many of the club members had been walking their dogs through the woods when the accident happened.

"He seemed to be alright when he left here, so we're praying for him, hoping he's alright," a member said.

Allegheny General Hospital says Steuer is in fair condition.
