Analyst: Pitt Still Has Shot At No. 1 Seed

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Jerry Palm, from CBS Sports and Collegerpi.com, joined the FAN Morning Show to talk about the NCAA Tournament that starts on Tuesday.

Despite their loss to UConn in the quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament, Palm - who is a bracketology expert - says that Pitt still has a shot at a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Palm says a teams' seed is not based off of one game, but how the team performed the whole year.

If Notre Dame wins the Big East Tournament and Duke beats UNC in the ACC Tournament, Pitt could drop to a No. 2 seed, Palm said. But he thinks "even if Duke wins the ACC tournament," Pitt still has a better profile than Duke.

Palm sees Ohio State as the favorite heading into the "wide-open" NCAA Tournament, but any No. 1 through No. 4 seed could end up in the Final Four.
