Duquesne Faces Montana In 1st Round Of CBI Tournament

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The Duquesne Dukes finished the season with an 18-12 record and fourth place in the regular season of the Atlantic 10 conference.

The Dukes earned a first-round bye in the A-10 tournament, but lost their quarterfinal matchup with Saint Joseph's 93-90 in overtime.

The loss knocked Duquesne out of consideration for the NCAA tournament. Four teams from the conference were invited to the dance on Sunday.

However, the Dukes will be going to their second straight College Basketball Invitational. They will be facing Montana in the first round on the road.

Opening Round games of the CBI will take place on Tuesday, March 15, and Wednesday, March 16.

If the Dukes win, they will face the winner of Weber State vs. Oregon on March 21.

The CBI is a 16-team tournament in its fourth year of existence. Past winners include Tulsa in 2008, Oregon State in 2009 and Virginia Commonwealth in 2010.

The two teams that reach the championship game will compete in a best-of-three format.

Fans of the schools involved will be able to watch a majority of the games on HDNet.
