March Madness Puts Local Fans On The Edge

NORTH SHORE (KDKA) -- March Madness is here and it's driving fans crazy.

Fans at McFadden's on the North Shore were on the edge of their seats.

Watching the games was different this year. Because of an agreement between CBS and Turner, the WVU-Clemson game was on CBS; the Penn State-Temple game was on TNT and the Pitt game was on Tru TV.

Mountaineer fans were thrilled with the 84-76 win.

"I think we did pretty good," Matt Vanek said. "With an ACC team, you never really know what's going to happen. Go Big East!"

Penn State fans returned to NCAA basketball excitement for the first time in a decade. But even with a tough 66-64 loss to Temple, they see hope for rebuilding the future.

"It's good to be back – 10 years," Alex Kaleida said. "You can see there's not a ton of Penn State people. I think they're still waiting for spring football practice, but collectively Penn State's back."

For some Pitt fans, the team's slow start against UNC Asheville was excruciating. They won, 74-51.

"I was a little nervous at first, but we're a second half team and we pulled it out – no problems," Craig Fisher said.
