Police Seek Suspect In Deadly North Side Shooting

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh police are investigating after one woman was killed and a man was injured during an overnight shooting on the city's North Side.

Authorities say police were called to the Allegheny Commons East apartment complex on East Ohio Street around 2:20 a.m.

The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Lakisha Robinson from the North Side. Officials identify the man who was injured as 24-year-old Richard Edge, also of the North Side.

Investigators say they believe a fight broke out between four to five women in the courtyard of the complex, and at some point during the incident another man fired shots.

"At some point a male retrieved a firearm and started shooting, and unfortunately struck Ms. Robinson in the chest and struck a second victim in the arm," said Cmdr. Thomas Stangrecki, of the Pittsburgh Police.

According to police, Robinson was found lying on the ground. She was taken to Allegheny General Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. She was pronounced dead just before 3 a.m.

"It was a very physical altercation," added Cmdr. Stangrecki. "I believe it started with some words between two individuals and escalated to full fledged fight between multiple people."

Police say Edge was grazed on the left arm by a bullet. He refused treatment at the scene, but later went to Allegheny General Hospital on his own. He was treated and released.

Authorities are continuing to search for the male suspect.

Anyone with information on the shooting is being asked to call Pittsburgh police at 412-323-7161.
