2-Year-Old Found Wandering In Springdale

SPRINGDALE (KDKA) -- A 2-year-old boy was found wandering in Springdale.

The little boy was chasing his dog, Rufus.

Police believe sometime around 9 a.m. Friday, the dog may have escaped from his yard and the child followed.

A neighbor saw the 2-year-old and grabbed him. Springdale Officer Jeremy Liotta jumped into action.

"We went door to door because this child could not talk," he said. "He's 2-years-old, he had a pacifier in his mouth and he had his footsie pajamas on. Went door to door knocking and seeing where this little guy belonged."

Holding the boy in one hand and knocking with the other, Officer Liotta found the boy's home and his grandmother who apparently has custody.

She told police she was sleeping and didn't know the boy was missing. Police say she could face child endangerment charges.
