Kovacevic: Lemieux Should Pay $500,000 Fine

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writer and blogger Dejan Kovacevic joined the FAN Morning Show and said Penguins owner Mario Lemieux should step up and pay the $500,000 fine for Matt Cooke under his proposal.

Kovacevic does not expect the NHL to fine Lemieux and the Penguins, but it is an opportunity for Lemieux to say he doesn't have a double standard and rub it in the face of his detractors for his effort to ban head shots.

Kovacevic suggests a way to remove head hits and head hunters from the game is to ban it and the players that can't change won't be signed to a team.

Kovacevic said Charlie Morton is an improved player this year, but doesn't expect the Pirates to win over 65 games, because they don't have enough good pitchers to compete.
