Sporting News Names Dixon National Coach Of The Year

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) –Jamie Dixon has been named National Coach of the Year by The Sporting News.

Despite Pitt's early exit from the NCAA Tournament after a 71-70 loss to Butler, Dixon led the Panthers (28-6) to the Big East Conference regular season title.

Pitt's 15-3 record in conference play was a school record, which helped the Panthers secure a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament for the second time in school history.

Dixon has been the head coach at Pitt for eight years and has a career record of 216-60.
