Body Pulled From Monongahela River

BELLE VERNON (KDKA) -- Police believe a body pulled from the Monongahela River could be a missing Fayette City woman.

According to police, a tow boat operator spotted the human remains in some low-lying branches around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday.

The area was about 500 yards off of Route 906 in Belle Vernon.

The Fayette County Coroner has not made a positive identification on the body at this time. However, they have reason to believe that it could be the body of Lisa Johnson.

Johnson, 49, was last seen on March 5. She left her house with no keys or cell phone.

Her roommate reported her missing two days later when she did not return home.

The cause and manner of death have not been determined and an autopsy has been scheduled.

Police do not believe the woman's death is suspicious.
